A couple taking part in a family mediation session
As part of Family Mediation Week, 16 – 20 January 2023, Sam O’Dwyer is pledging to spread the word about the benefits of mediation by hosting online open surgeries for anyone who is considering mediation to attend.

Family Mediation Week is designed to raise awareness of the benefits of family mediation, a process that can help ex-partners agree what works for them, whilst avoiding the court process with all the stress, delay and cost it can bring. The Family Mediation Council have several online events that are open to everyone who wishes to learn more about mediation. Here’s the link to the events and how to register.

Mediator and family lawyer, Samantha O’Dwyer has made a pledge to help to promote family mediation.

As an Accredited passionate Family Mediator, I have been asked to consider a pledge to promote Family Mediation. My pledge is as follows: –

I will offer information on mediation and how it can be helpful to you by holding a surgery once every other month for around 1 hour. You can ask questions on mediation and dispel any myths and/or concerns that you may have regarding the process.

The first ‘open’ surgery will take place via zoom on Tuesday 21st February 2022 at 3pm.

  • Why are you doing it? My desire is to provide potential clients with the confidence to enter mediation and take away anxiety/fears over the process. I also wish to promote mediation as a means of resolving financial and children’s issues following separation.
  • How will it work? Meetings will be held over zoom and will last ten minutes each (it will just be you and me in the meeting). You can email me to book a slot within the hour-long open surgery. I will answer any questions you have about the family mediation and hopefully alleviate any concerns about the process that you might have.
  • Who can attend? Anyone who is considering mediation to avoid litigation following the ending of a relationship.
  • How can I register? Please email your interest to: s.o’dwyer@allaw.co.uk.
